Our day started with a welcome from our Chairperson Mr. Tom Rodgers .He thanked the attendees for braving the very inclement weather and explained how our day would progress. Our first speaker Mr.Thomas Sharkey, a school Principal, outlined how schools can support their students taking the LCA Programme and how teachers can be helped to deliver a great Programme.
Mr. David Power, a former LCA student spoke about the benefits of the Programme and how it helped him on the way to achieve his full potential.
Ms.Louise O Reilly, Education officer with the NCCA, spoke about the ongoing review of the LCA module descriptors in three modules offered on the Programme.
After our coffee-break, Mr.Brian Comerford spoke about using ICT and Social Media in the LCA classroom. This was an interactive session.
Our key-note speaker was Mr.John Doran. John spoke about the topic of Resilience, Wellbeing and strategies to help maximise our student’s performance.
After lunch, we were addressed by Mary Mitchell O Connor, Minister of State at The Department of Education and Skills. She fully supports the Programme and presented the awards to students who received the highest grades in The Leaving Cert Applied exam 2017. These awards are very generously supported and sponsored by Mr.Feargal Quinn.
Our last speaker of the day was MS. Denise Mc Carthy , IBEC, who provided us with a very comprehensive update on apprenticeships open to our students.
Our day concluded with a Q/A session, distribution of resources and our AGM.

These are just some of the very positive comments received from those who attended our conference and awards on Saturday 25th November 2017. Over 65 people braved the elements to attend and were not disappointed. As usual we received first class service from The Athlone Springs Hotel. Our speakers were engaging, interesting and relevant. We are already looking forward to next years conference.
